And I beat my grandad. He died at 38, so ever since my Dad’s 38th Birthday he has been annoying my Mum with “I’ll be dead before I’m ….”.
Time to wind up Mrs Hussar with “I’ll be dead before I’m 40″.

Happy Birthday! I’ve still added on more than you have so far. Seems like lately I’ve been appreciating another chance every morning, so I rarely bother to look at whole years ahead.
In the post below, I agree that youth is wasted on the wrong people.
If I knew then what I know now……
My grandmother died of a mis-diagnosed appendix rupture at the age of 37. Her youngest son, my dad, was 11 years old at the time, and he never quite got over losing her.
The year I turned 38, as the oldest of 4 sisters, I started telling them that “I’m older than Grandma”. Talk about getting the eye roll.

My dad was 3 when his dad died- this is in London just before the Second World war, and he was never evacuated! my Nan used to have a job. Basically family and neighbours used to keep an eye on him.
