My prefered scale for mass battalions wargaming is 10mm, as you get, well, mass battalions.

Line of Battle

Pike Stand
The Regiment of Foote rules are written with Peter Pig’s 15mm figures in mind- and state 4 to a base. On the same 3cm x 3cm base I get 16 pike men. I feel it looks far more like a pikeblock. My units are 100 bodies, not 24.

I am resisting 10mm manfully but I keep hearing the words …. “Resistance is futile!!”

Come to the Dark Side….
Yes they are more to paint, but they are so much quicker. Plus at current pices you get 10 or more to every 25/28mm

I picked up Warmaster Medieval at Cancon this weekend … I can feel even more pressure for 10mm coming on. The only thing likely to save me is the arrival of my 1/3000th ships back to Australia in a couple of weeks time. Well, that and the Victorian Science Fiction I am working on at the moment.
